Alaska’s Trojan War

Alaskan politics has a new invasive species, the Hawkins 2024 campaign. An authoritarian attempt to take over an active state Green Party (one of the oldest) by a radical faction (an invasive species of political puritans). Actors who stand on pillars of decentralization, grassroots activism, and the value of peace to call us terrorist and attempt to bar me personally from all political action for the next decade. These sycophants have come to believe it is their right and duty to subvert the existing party leadership, believing they can install doppelgangers to do the job they could not.

In August of 2020, the Green Party of Alaska was presented with a difficult decision. The massively viewed Earth Day forum was the last time we heard from the Hawkins campaign until they paid a consultant to buy ballot access. We graciously accepted the gift, believing the choice was ours (and legally it was). However, when we sought the campaigns assistance to reach more green voters in Alaska to see what they wanted, the campaign (and it seems the whole Green Party of the United States) turned on us. After repeated attempts to harass, subvert, and force majeure concessions we finally decided we could no longer support the lackluster candidate. Our small group of three officers decided to send out the poll, as the only voting tool we had, to see who the people wanted. From all the choices we could think to add, Jesse Ventura came out a clear winner. Even running no campaign, he came in 4th in Alaska.

As you read this, they are voting to exile Alaska (until 1/10/2021). The airwaves are being filled with a civil war raging inside the Green Party United States.  The ONLY possible peaceful solution is to manufacture “charges” and haul us through a very public kangaroo court, focused on a vote to de-affiliate of the Green Party of Alaska. A rush to action while they openly brag, the campaign is in touch with “other Alaskans” and are already working on building a “new Green Party in Alaska”. This has never been done before and yet, this year, the same group, is using their positions to punish three separate state parties including Georgia and Rhode Island. Rhode Island thew themselves on their preverbal “swords” and withdrew from the national alliance of Greens, instead of fighting the onslaught. We chose to face the hoard.

Other parties exist, and even without the affiliation of the national association we still retain our identity as a political group.  So why bother with a national association that even in decline is attempting to purge more states? The answer as to why they are distracting everyone is in the Founders Letter to the Daily Beast. It’s more profitable to fight poverty, climate change, and social injustice than it is to solve them. The reason we are staying the course is because we believe the pillars and values are the roots of the movement to speak for the planet and her people. We rise against the storm to see that voice ring pure and clear in this new age, the Age of Aquarius.

Whatever you thought about the Green Party in the past. I encourage you, wherever you are to register and join your local state green chapter.  If you’re in a state that doesn’t’ have one, we can help you get started. This is not about a partisan attempt to recruit members to our side. It’s about reminding everyone that green politics are on everyone’s side. When we win, everybody wins. As national and the state associations are working to update their Bylaws, this is YOUR chance to help restore honor to the Greens and the voice to Gaia. The living being with whom we coexist in a symbiotic relationship. If that is too much spiritualism for your politics, remember! Policies are made to nurture the economic environments that support diverse and resilient cultures. Enabling society to endure for generations is the greatest profit motive we all share.
